Content Marketing Done Right
Content marketing isn’t going anywhere. It’s not a buzz phrase like “myspace marketing manager” or “moving the free line”.
You see… MySpace marketing was a fad. Yes.. a Big Fat Fad. Like Five Finger Shoes. (c’mon.. you know they are)
People based their entire business and marketing strategy on a site that no one cares about anymore.
Don’t get me wrong… I’m sure there’s a way to get results from using it as a marketing channel, but this idea of marketing on MySpace was very short-lived.
I won’t get into whether Facebook Marketing is a fad or not, but the same idea holds true. There’s no reason why people should be building their entire following on a platform they do not own or control.
But, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Which brings me to content marketing. This is a trend and it’s a trend we should all be following. Why?Because it has been proven to give bloggers like myself, Lisa, Pat, Chris, Francisco, Ana, Corbett, Derek and Kiesha long-term results.

The Internet Will Crash & Burn Without Us
That’s right. There are two sides to the internet. The side that consumes content (which is basically all of us) and the side that creates it. And if you’re reading this, you’re probably a content producer.
The internet doesn’t work without content, this is why it needs us to survive.
But as we all know, the internet is apathetic. It doesn’t care how old you are, where you’re from, what you’ve done, who you married or what your beliefs are. The internet doesn’t owe you anything. It doesn’t owe you traffic, leads or sales. That’s our job to get.
And the best way to attract people, convert them and make sales is to create epic content that people care about and want to share. This is what the Epic Writing series is all about. It’s no longer about creating the MOST content.
We have enough of that. Information overload is an actually ‘thing’. It even has its own Wikipedia page (check it out).
It’s now about producing the BEST content. The information age is long gone, we’re now in the Attention Age and we have to adjust. In a world with so many choices, why would people choose to follow and buy from you?
